  • Primary Schooling: This is started by the children of age group 6 or 6+ starting from class 1 to class 5 for 5 years and each year the child is promoted to next class after qualifying the class studying in. The child age 6 or 6+ is most likely to start its education from class 1 and gradually by the time of turning 10 or 11 he/she may appear in class 5.
  • Middle school: This is started at the age of 11 or 11+ for the children qualifying to class 6 and ended at class 8. This system works for three years.
  • Senior school: This is started at the age of 13 or 13+ for the children qualifying to class 9 and ended at class 12. This system is further divided into two categories: SSC(senior secondary school) & HSC( Higher senior secondary school). Where SSC is considered as class 9 & 10 and whereas HSC is considered as class 11 & 12.
  • Graduation school or college: This has been appeared by a teenager of age 17 or above for the period of 3 years depending on the course.
  • Post Graduation college: This is done after the graduation for 2 years for further enhancing the degree in some specification.

Important notes:-

  • After school a child sometimes pursues a specialized course and the duration of that course completely depends on the structure of that course.
  • The entire education system after college depends on the courses offered by colleges and the interest of students. There are various students who believe in certificate courses which last for 1 year as well.
  • In India the basic education system guidelines work for elementary education and education at school level.
  • Even in the state of Maharashtra there is no HSC education rather that education is being merged for two years with graduation which means graduation in such a state is for 5 years.
  • The basic education system in India is 3+5+3+4.

Therefore, this is the way education is being provided to the children in our country India.
